He embodies many different roles for the play.Many times, Lady Macbeth is the centre of attention as the reader moves forward through the play. As he murders King Duncan and his wife Lady Macduff, Lady Macbeth is brought closer to death herself. In many ways, it is through her that we come to understand the three witches, and how each tries to claim their share of power to gain absolute power over their brother.In terms of Lady Macbeth essay topics, they vary depending on the situation. As he, like all people, has a past, and Lady Macbeth's story is something she has kept hidden from him. This allows the play to go from intrigue to horror to comedy and back again as the other characters try to piece together what he has been hiding, and how they can hurt him.Often, it will be through his murder of Duncan that the audience learns a great deal about who he is, and why he does what he does.
