Essay Topics - Character Analysis: MacbethLady Macbeth - a central character in Shakespeare's Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's most famous characters - is one of the many people we are introduced to through this play. He embodies many different roles for the play.Many times, Lady Macbeth is the centre of attention as the reader moves forward through the play. As he murders King Duncan and his wife Lady Macduff, Lady Macbeth is brought closer to death herself. In many ways, it is through her that we come to understand the three witches, and how each tries to claim their share of power to gain absolute power over their brother.In terms of Lady Macbeth essay topics, they vary depending on the situation. As he, like all people, has a past, and Lady Macbeth's story is something she has kept hidden from him. This allows the play to go from intrigue to horror to comedy and back again as the other characters try to piece together what he has been hiding, and how they can hurt him.Often, it will be through his murder of Duncan that the audience learns a great deal about who he is, and why he does what he does. It is only through his actions that we come to understand who he is, and how he acts when he is not in the present.We have only seen Lady Macbeth with his face covered. As the play progresses, the audience has more opportunities to see this person who is so interested in death's role in our lives. It is only through these appearances that the other characters will be able to understand his motives, and why he goes from one situation to another.Lady Macbeth is also introduced in many different situations throughout the play. As heplays king to two previous kings, he loses that power and is now simply acting as the King's advisor.Finally, as Macbeth murders Duncan, Lady Macbeth loses all power. Now, no longer king, he will not even have the face to show for himself. Instead, the audience can only see him from the waist up, and so they see the events around him.Each of these versions of Lady Macbeth essay topics allow the play to exist in many different places, all of which require a different kind of audience response. By understanding the actor in the play, we can then make the most of the opportunities presented to us.
